A mother on a mission is a mother that is there for her children in every memorable moment, mess up, and milestone. A mother on a mission has a “by any means necessary” mentality when it comes to rearing her children. A mother on a mission is confident in the fact that as long as she follows her Father and finds favor in His sight, she is able to lead, love, and lavish her children with every good thing. As you celebrate Mother’s Day this month, take a moment to think about all of the mothers on a mission that you know and thank God for all of them.
A mother on a mission has hope like Hannah. Hannah hoped for a child and was on a mission to become a mother. She wanted nothing more than to have a child. She persistently prayed for a child. God heard her prayer and she possessed the child. As promised, she passed him along to the priest to be reared as a righteous man in the house of the Lord (1 Samuel 1:1-28). Her mission was met by the Master and she birthed a mighty man of God in the person of Samuel the prophet (1 Samuel 1:20).
A mother on a mission has a mindset and a mouth that says, “it is well,” like the Shunammite woman (2 Kings 4:26). The prophet Elisha prophesied that she would have a son and his prophecy was manifested (2 Kings 4:17). Her son fell ill and died but she knew he was a promise from the prophet and she was not going to settle for it (2 Kings 4:8-37). She kept the “it is well” mantra in her mouth and set out on her mission to let Elisha know what happened. She refused to settle for what she saw and knew that her “it is well” with her mouth would match her mission to see her son alive again went she went to Elisha (2 Kings 4:8-37).
A mother on a mission is soon satisfied like Sarah. Sarah was 90 years old when she had her son Isaac (Genesis 21:1-7). She was blessed with the child she desired for many years. Although several years passed, Sarah was satisfied with the birth of her son. A mother on a mission knows that though the promise may tarry, wait for it (Habakkuk 2:3). Sarah finally received the satisfaction of a son and the mother of many by the seed of Abraham (Genesis 17:5).
A mother on a mission leans on her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and is confident in the fact that she can cast all of her cares on Him because He cares for her (1 Peter 5:7). A mother on a mission knows that He will perfect all those things that concern her (Psalm 138:8). A mother on a mission knows she can do all things through Christ (Philippians 4:13). With the Master on her side, there is no match for a mother on a mission!
