Freedom feels good. You serve a God that wants you to cast all of your cares upon Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). He wants you to be free. God wants you to walk in the freedom that comes with being a part of His royal family. He gave you His holy scripture to equip you to live a bountiful and blessed life free from bondage. He wants you to break free of bondage and lay aside every weight that is trying to hinder you from going forward in your purpose. To accomplish this mission, you will need to believe and agree with God to be free and break free from bondage. Doing so leaves no room to be burdened and bombarded with the cares of this world. Recognize what has you bound, release it by telling it to let you go, and receive the freedom and abundant life through Jesus Christ.

Freedom begins with forgiveness. Ask God to create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit in you (Psalm 51:10). To be free indeed means playing an active role in your release. God provides the way of escape but it is up to you to execute your freedom. When you become free, keep it moving and do not look back. Looking back may tempt you to want go back into bondage and can lead to death and destruction. Keep Lot’s wife in mind if you think about looking back on your road to freedom from bondage. Sometimes going back means death and destruction instead of life and liberty that comes with being free. If you recall, Lot’s wife was told not to look back while fleeing from Sodom when the city was being destroyed. She didn’t listen, looked back, lost her life, and turned into a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:2).

Freedom comes with the evidence of independence. God breaks the yokes that have you bound and your breakthrough is always evident. When Jesus encountered the woman that had a spirit of infirmity that had her bent and bound for 18 years, He freed her from her infirmity by calling her to Him, laying His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight and glorified God (Luke 13:11-17). She went from being bent over to bursting with praise because of her healing. Expect to be extracted from bondage and live a life full of liberties and loosed to take advantage of the lion’s share. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17). Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made you free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage (Galatians 5:1).

Freedom, at times, feels fake. There are times when you ask God to deliver you from a situation or circumstance and when He does it, you don’t believe it and continue to walk in bondage. When God gives you release, revel in it and rejoice that He fulfilled His promise to perfect everything that concerns you (Psalm 138:8). Even while waiting, thank and praise Him in advance in anticipation of its manifestation. At times when you become free and walk in your freedom, some will not believe that you are free. Some people will try to hold on to seeing you in your former state. When Peter was in prison, the saints were praying for his release. God miraculously released him from prison and when he knocked on the door of the place they were gathered, Rhoda ran to tell them that Peter was at the door but they didn’t believe her (Acts 12:5-18). The saints couldn’t believe that the answer to their prayers was right at the door.

Say, “bye to Baal!” Goodbye and good riddance to any idol, obstacle, or obsession you or someone else built that is holding you bound. Let your testimony today be from this day forward, “I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.” (Psalm 119:45) So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed (John 8:36). Be free and fly!
